An Integrative Dynamical Systems Perspective on Emotions

نویسنده

چکیده

Within cognitive, affective and social neuroscience more and more mechanisms are found that suggest how emotions relate in a bidirectional manner to many other mental processes and behaviour. Based on this, in this paper a neurologically inspired dynamical systems approach on the dynamics and interaction of emotions is discussed. Thus an integrative perspective is obtained that can be used to describe, for example, how emotions relate to feelings, beliefs, desires, experiences, decision making, and to emotions of others. It is pointed out how this perspective can be used to obtain integrated computational models of such mental processes incorporating emotions.

Children's moral emotions and moral cognition: towards an integrative perspective.

This chapter presents a brief introduction to the developmental and educational literature linking children's moral emotions to cognitive moral development. A central premise of the chapter is that an integrative developmental perspective on moral emotions and moral cognition provides an important conceptual framework for understanding children's emerging morality and designing developmentally ...

On Two-parameter Dynamical Systems and Applications

In this note some useful properties of strongly continuous two-parameter semigroups of operators are studied, an exponential formula for two-parameter semigroups of operators on Banach spaces is obtained and some applied examples of two-parameter dynamical systems are discussed

Predictive Regulation: Allostasis, Behavioural Flexibility and Fear Learning

Dynamical systems perspectives on emotion emphasize the importance of the regulatory interplay between brain, body and environment to adaptive behaviour. We suggest that a key facet of emotions, above all fear, consistent with this perspective lies in the allostatic regulation of constitutive/behavioural dynamics in terms of prediction and behavioural biases linking internal needs to external a...

Functional relevance of 'excitatory' gaba actions in cortical interneurons: a dynamical systems approach.

The non-classical, but frequently reported behavior of GABA(A) receptor-mediated excitation in mature CNS has long been regarded as a puzzle. We theorize that the function of cortical GABAergic interneurons, which might constitute a subsystem of brain's GABA interneurons, is their ability of switching from inhibitory action to excitatory action depending on the level of spatio-temporal activity...

Dilations for $C^ast$-dynamical systems with abelian groups on Hilbert $C^ast$-modules

‎In this paper we investigate the dilations of completely positive definite representations‎ ‎of (C^ast)-dynamical systems with abelian groups on Hilbert (C^ast)-modules‎. ‎We show that if ((mathcal{A}‎, ‎G,alpha)) is a (C^ast)-dynamical system with (G) an abelian group‎, ‎then every completely positive definite covariant representation ((pi,varphi,E)) of ((mathcal{A}‎, ‎G,alpha)) on a Hilbert ...
